Al-Ittihad are reportedly targeting another Liverpool player this summer although this deal seems even less likely than Mohamed Salah.

RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that Al Ittihad have sounded out a move for Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté, 24, after failing in a bid to sign OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

Todibo has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer but the English side are struggling to come up with the funds for the former Barcelona defender.

This has left the Saudi side to make an offer for the Frenchman but the offer for the defender has been turned down by the 23-year-old and it seems likely that the defender will stay in France as he seemingly awaits United’s proposal.

Could Konate happen

The deal for another French defender in Konate would be a lot harder to complete for the Saudi side.

Al-Ittihad have also sounded out a move for Konaté. However, the Saudi club may once again have to concede defeat. Konaté is happy at Liverpool and he is keen on reaching his objectives with the Merseyside club.

Mohamed Salah seems the most likely departure from Liverpool, as bizarre as that sounds, with the Saudi side prepared to offer Liverpool £129 million for the forward according to CBS Sport.

Konate would represent a colossus addition for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side although, as mentioned, the deal seems dead in the water with the former RB Leipzig defender keen on remaining at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp.

The Saudi side have already tried to sign Raphael Varane this summer although that deal, similar to Konate, is dead in the water.

Varane is keen on at least one more season in Europe before potentially making the move to the Middle East next summer, but for now, the deal for Konate, or Varane, isn’t going to happen.
