Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Marquinhos has been linked with a move away from the Parisian club this summer and Al-Ittihad could be an option.

The Saudi side have been linked with a move for the Brazilian defender before and RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins has reiterated the Saudi side’s interest in the defender.

Marquinhos’ role as PSG captain is currently under threat. According to reporting from RMC Sport, two votes have been held to elect Les Parisiens’ captain for the season.

Marquinhos is the current proprietor of the armband, and it was the Brazilian international that came out on top in the first round of voting.

Despite this, there are seemingly doubts amongst the French giants’ squad about whether the defender is suitable enough to carry on as the captain for the Parisian side.

Saudi interest

Al-Ittihad, who are interested in Manchester United defender Raphael Varane, are seemingly keen to improve their defence following the lavish spend on their midfield and attack.

After signing Fabinho, N’Golo Kante, Jota from Celtic and former Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are keen to improve their back line.

After failing in a move for Raphael Varane, who is keen to remain at United according to Fabrizio Romano, the Saudi side are keen on the Brazilian defender.

Whilst questions over Marquinhos’ role as captain for PSG linger, his future at the club is also being called into question.

However, there may be disappointment down the line for the Saudi side, as Hawkins claims that the defender,28, has no interest in making the move to Al-Ittihad.

To add to this, the defender wants to remain in Paris, although whether he will be captain for the new season remains to be seen.

The Saudi side will be waiting in the wings if the Brazilian changes his mind.
