Al-Ittihad midfielder Fabinho received a surprise present from a fan of the Saudi side following the club’s 3-0 win against Al-Raed in the opening game of the season.

The Brazilian, who completed his move to the Saudi side this summer from Liverpool for a fee of around £40 million according to The Athletic, was superb last night and was rewarded with a present from a fan.

A video circulating on Twitter has shown the midfielder being rewarded with a new Rolex watch following the Saudi side’s win in the opening game of the season.

The fan rewarded Fabinho with the swanky present and the midfielder looked stunned to receive the gift from the fan but this may well be something that the former AS Monaco midfielder will have to get used to.

Al-Ittihad dominates

The Saudi side won comfortably in the end as two goals from Igor Coronado and Abderrazak Hamdallah was enough for the Saudi side, who won the league last season, to win all three points and start the season as they mean to go on.

Fabinho, alongside Karim Benzema and Jota from Celtic, means that the Saudi side could well be the favourites for the title, although Al-Hilal signing Neymar for around £86 million according to The Guardian could well have something to say about that.

The importance of the Saudi side signing Fabinho cannot be understated. The defensive nous and the tactical understanding that the Brazilian has made him a superb addition to the midfield and his defensive security allows his teammates to push forward and sustain attacks.

There was another big game last night as Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq picked up a 2-1 win against Cristiano Ronaldo’s and Sadio Mane’s Al-Nassr side, this may well be a huge boost for Al-Ittihad as it seems likely that Al-Nassr may well be the sides biggest challengers for the title.
