Al-Ittihad reportedly expressed their interest in signing former Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo on a permanent deal.

The Jeddah-based side are yet to sign a centre-back in the summer transfer window after a number of world-class defenders were rumoured to be heading to Saudi Arabia.

Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos had emerged as a transfer target for Al-Ittihad who looked to sign the Spaniard on a free transfer.

A few days later, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Al-Ittihad are finalising a deal for Luiz Felipe of Real Betis for a reported fee of £20 million.

However, it seems that Al-Ittihad have now set their sights on former OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo, who is also attracting interest from other European clubs.

According to a report by Ashaq Al-Awsat, Al-Ittihad have made a huge offer for Todibo but the Frenchman has not made a decision and remains in contact with other clubs.

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag are also reportedly keen on signing the 23-year-old following the long-term injury of Raphael Varane.

Todibo joined Barcelona from Toulouse back in January of 2019 but struggled for game time in Catalunya and had loan spells at Schalke, Benfica, and OGC Nice, where his loan was turned permanent two years ago.

A potential deal for Todibo would make him Al-Ittihad’s fifth summer acquisition after the signings of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho, and Jota from Celtic.

It’s worth noting that Al-Ittihad haven’t given up on Mohamed Salah yet with recent reports suggesting the Egyptian could move to Jeddah.

Al-Ittihad have had a perfect start to their Saudi Pro League campaign as they are currently unbeaten and are yet to concede a goal after four games played.
