Former Celtic winger Jota is set to make a rather hefty demand to Al-Ittihad if he is to complete a move away from the Saudi side.

The Portuguese winger only joined the Saudi side this summer but due to the rules meaning that only a limited amount of players from Europe can be registered.

The former Celtic winger will demand his full Al-Ittihad salary in talks to terminate his contract if he is to leave the Saudi club just months after completing his big-money move.

The £25 million move looked to be a huge one for the winger and indeed the Saudi side but Nuno Espirito Santo, who formerly managed Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers, decided to leave him out of the squad.

It now seems the forward is in talks with the Saudi side in a bid to see him released from his contract but the winger will demand full compensation before he completes the move away from the club.

Jota to evaluate situation

According to transfer expert Rudy Galetti, he will evaluate his situation and make a decision between either waiting until January to try and change the club’s mind and get back in the squad or hold talks with them to leave on a free transfer and he’ll ask for his entire salary if he does.

The Portuguese forward was such a crucial cog for Celtic it does seem surprising that the Saudi side would be willing to cut their losses on a player they spent a lot of money on just a few months ago.

Al-Ittihad have already signed Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho and Luiz Felipe so it seems Jota is not part of the Portuguese manager’s plans.
